Michael Sutherland became a partner at Mair Jensen Blair January 1st, 2004. He took his undergraduate studies at East Kootenay Community College and the University of Victoria. Between 1992 and 1995, he worked in sales and marketing for the Victoria Cougars and later the Prince George Cougars. He then studied for his law degree at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1998. He articled at a Kamloops firm prior to being called to the bar in 1999 & became an associate at MJB in 2000.
Prior to embarking on his academic career, Michael played in the Western Hockey League for the Lethbridge Broncos and the Swift Current Broncos, as a goalie. Michael also played for the Vernon Lakers and Nanaimo Clippers of the BCJHL.
Born in Kamloops, Michael grew up in Cranbook. He chose Kamloops because of his love for the sports and recreation that the city offers.
Michael’s general law practice includes personal injury, motor vehicle accident claims, wrongful dismissal and estate litigation.
Married with three children, Michael is most proud of his family. In his spare time, he skis in the winter, and enjoys mountain biking, golfing and camping in the summer.
Mr. Sutherland has appeared before the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and has appeared numerous time in British Columbia Supreme Court and British Columbia Provincial Court.
