- It is possible to make your own Will. However, Wills are very important documents when it comes to determining how your estate is to be divided upon your death and it is in your interest to obtain legal advice.
- 3. What do I do with my Will once it has been properly signed and witnessed?
- The location of a Will may be registered with the Division of Vital Statistics in Victoria, British Columbia. However, this registration is not required by law.
- 4. Can I change my Will once it has been signed?
- A Will can be changed by making a new Will and revoking the old Will.
- 5. Do I have to include my spouse or children in my Will?
- Yes. If your Will has been typed it’s probably saved somewhere. Just make the appropriate changes and follow the signing guidelines above. Be sure to destroy your old Will when the changes have been made.
- 6. What should I include in my Will?
- Because there are so many complications in today’s family dynamics, which can include blended families, it is in your best interest to obtain proper legal advice to ensure your wishes upon death are looked after.
