Nathan Van Kampen carries on a solicitor’s practice, with a focus on business law, corporate structure and finance, and commercial transactions. Nathan enjoys building relationships with client in order to learn their specific needs and how best to craft a plan to suit their individual circumstances. This area of law provides an exciting opportunity to work with a business from inception and assist with growth and expansion while witnessing an entrepreneur’s vision come to fruition. In practice, this means working on matters such as corporate reorganizations, share and asset purchases and sales, advising on commercial agreements, drafting and reviewing contracts, arranging financing and payouts and ensuring corporate records are accurately maintained.
Nathan can assist with all forms of real estate transactions, working with businesses, individuals and lenders on purchases, sales, leases, refinances and property ownership agreements. He also assists with property development matters from bare lots to multi-family projects and varied applications from subdivisions to addressing easements and property line issues. Meeting client needs also involves ensuring that estate and incapacity planning documents are in place and up-to-date and accurately reflect clients goals, intentions and values for personal, family and business matters.
Kamloops (and the surrounding area) has been Nathan’s home for his entire life. Born and raised on a ranch in Monte Creek, he attended Thompson Rivers University and received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history in 2012. He attended law school at the University of Victoria and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2015. Nathan returned to Kamloops after graduation to complete his Articles in a local firm and began practicing as an associate in May 2016 after being called to the bar.
Nathan seized the opportunity to join MJB Lawyers as an associate lawyer in March 2023 to expand his practice and became a Partner in January 2025.
Outside of the office, Nathan is involved with the Board of the Kamloops Adapted Sports Association and plays wheelchair basketball as well as men’s league soccer. He is an avid sports fan in general and enjoys spending his time with his family out in his backyard or walking around downtown Kamloops.
