We are looking for a full-time temporary junior accounting clerk to join our team. The term length is indefinite for now, pending the potential return of the incumbent. Notwithstanding the foregoing, there are internal opportunities for advancement.

This position supports the accounting department with transactional tasks, both daily and monthly, as follows:

  • Inputting daily POS, and online payment deposits.
  • Reviewing and processing bank account transfers, trust, and general deposits.
  • Uploading office disbursements, postage, printing, and photocopies.
  • Generating debit memos and cheques required for various accounts, and fees.
  • Reviewing and processing payment plan arrangements for outstanding accounts.
  • Closing files within firm’s accounting system.
  • Generating and processing daily deposits, including cheques.
  • Reviewing and filing posted invoices.

Additional tasks include:

  • Reviewing lawyer’s A/R reports and following up, as needed.
  • Reviewing and sending client Statement of Accounts reminders.
  • Collections - corresponding with clients regarding repayment reminders, and payment of invoices including arranging, diarizing, and finalizing payment plans.
  • Completion of collection forms and gathering required information.
  • Ensuring collection notes are captured and documented.
  • Generating Matter Drafts based on lawyer’s request.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, or combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Keyboarding of 50 wpm.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, and Excel.
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Basic experience in similar position helpful, but not required. Training provided.

Salary from $41,569.00 per year.  Please note that salary is commensurate with experience.
