November 30 Transparency Report Deadline for BC Landowners

On November 30, 2022, an important new legal requirement is coming into effect for real estate in British Columbia.

Where the registered owner of land at the British Columbia Land Title Office is a corporation, partnership, or is held through a trust, the owners may need to file a Transparency Report and provide information about the individuals who have control or a beneficial interest in the entity that is listed on the legal title to the land.

These Transparency Reports must be filed by November 30, 2022 and there are significant penalties for failing to file a report or filing an incorrect report.
